Job Introduction

The role of Social Data Analyst sits within a multi-disciplined team of researchers and data analysts. This role will report directly to the Head of Consumer & Brand Insights but will be briefed and co-writing reports by the Principle Social Analyst. This role will also work closely with the Social Purpose Researcher and the Brand & Cultural Insights research that also sits within this dynamic team.

The role will work on briefs from across all BBC divisions.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver social listening & platform performance analysis using defined tools to deliver value to the business.
  • Support more senior analytics colleagues in delivering projects and fielding queries.
  • Building complex query strings within social listening applications
  • Work with colleagues to ensure consistent data quality
  • Analysing and visualizing data from a suite of social, search, and desk research sources to create a narrative that can be understood by individuals with less knowledge of statistical analysis.
  • Present audience insight in a compelling way that tells the story behind the data creatively and engagingly.
  • Developing and maintaining documentation & knowledge by keeping organized data files, presentations, and utilizing shared drives & live collaboration presentations.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest developments in the social media field
  • Helping non-data-oriented colleagues understand where analysis can help them with their day-to-day roles
Are you the right candidate?

Essential:

  • Educated to degree level or above, ideally in a STEM subject or equivalent experience
  • Analytical, naturally curious, and enjoys problem-solving
  • Ability to manage your own time and prioritise accordingly
  • Good written and verbal communication skills – an absolute must
  • Self-starter and positive attitude
  • Enjoys collaboration and working as part of a team
  • Able to simplify complex problems into component parts and deal with them systematically
  • Understanding of the broadcast and media market and interest in its future

Desirable:

  • Understanding of or interest in one or more data scripting languages such as Python, R, or SQL
  • Passionately develops skills and knowledge in data, and keeps up with the latest developments in the field.
  • Interest, knowledge and experience in research, brand insight, and marketing.
  • Understanding how the digital and media landscape is evolving and the implications for all parts of the BBC.

Band: C
Contract type: 12 month fixed term contract
Location: Hybrid working available from London or Salford office
